Why do geckos lick their eyes?

Most Lizards have eyelids to wipe their eyes, but the gecko doesn't. Like a snake, it has scale across the eye. To keep it eyes moist and squeaky clean. the gecko licks them, using its long tongue like a handy wipe.

* Most Lizards are land lubbers. The Marine Iguana from the Galapagos Islands is the only one that lives in the sea.
